Singer Nellie McKay is a sharp and thoughtful songwriter whose performing style is largely informed by vintage jazz, classic cabaret, and vocal pop. Since her debut, 2004’s Get Away from Me, McKay has released acclaimed albums with many different sounds—encompassing pop and jazz but also rock and folk, and always defying categorization. She is a true old-school entertainer, and her larger-than-life personality and wit are on full display during every show.

Recorded in West Virginia and released in August 2023, Hey Guys, Watch This, McKay’s first album of original material in 13 years, traces the haunted sounds of Appalachia to a renaissance of folky, rootsy revelry. Her music has been used on radio and TV and in movies, and she has appeared on many shows, including The Late Show with David Letterman and A Prairie Home Companion.
