—All About Jazz
Grasping for definitions is useless with this band. Their genre can only be described by other words like ‘fresh,’ ‘calm,’ ‘serene,’ and ‘bliss.’
House of Waters is the confluence of multiple streams. Through immersive studies in India, Senegal, Japan, the Americas, and beyond, the members of House of Waters have synthesized a new and unique sound. For 16 years, hammered dulcimer player Max ZT and six-string electric bassist Moto Fukushima have carefully crafted a combined voice. Their rare instrumentation lets the prolific composers create a distinct sound and a compelling, captivating style.
The duo’s latest release, On Becoming, features creative, curious, and virtuosic performances across six compositions as well as on three fully improvised pieces. The album emphasizes the exploration of a sound, of a composition, and of a moment.
