Ebullient performances by musicians who convey the pleasure of playing together.

Times change, but Herb Alpert remains resolutely true to himself. And you don’t sound this laid-back without working extremely hard.
As part of MIM’s 10th Anniversary in 2020, MIM’s Music Theater will present the Global Masters Series, which celebrates the creativity and musicianship of artists at the pinnacle of their craft. Each performance brings a unique perspective to the question of why music matters, helping us understand the deep connections we all have to music.
Creator and innovator, musician and producer, artist, and philanthropist Herb Alpert is a legendary trumpet player. Alpert’s extraordinary musicianship has earned him five number-one hits, nine Grammy Awards—the latest from his 2014 album, Steppin’ Out—15 Gold albums, and 14 Platinum albums. He has sold over 72 million records. Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass propelled his sound into the pop music limelight, at one point outselling the Beatles two to one.
Grammy Award–winning vocalist and producer Lani Hall started her singing career in 1966 as the lead singer of Sergio Mendes’s breakthrough group Brasil ’66. In 1966, A&M Records signed Brasil ’66 and Hall met her future husband, Alpert, who is also the cofounder of A&M Records. Hall has the distinction of recording more than 22 albums in three different languages.
