With his 1972 self-titled record, singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist David Bromberg emerged as an American music wunderkind. The blend of traditional and original material, the virtuosic musicianship, and the iconic cover art trumpeted the arrival of a new and audacious artist.

Bromberg’s backing band settled into its current lineup—Mark Cosgrove (guitar, mandolin, vocals), Nate Grower (fiddle, mandolin, guitar, vocals), Josh Kanusky (drums, vocals), and Suavek Zaniesienko (bass, vocals)—in 2016. In 2020, the band released Big Road, the most intimate portrait of Bromberg and his band to date. The album, released on Red House Records, features 12 new songs, five high-definition performance videos, and a mini documentary detailing the album’s creation. In an age where recorded music has been devalued and relegated to digital streams, Big Road returns the listener to the golden age of record making, when enjoying an album was a tactile, visual, and auditory experience.
