A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a charitable giving vehicle sponsored by a public charity that allows you to contribute to that charity and be eligible for an immediate tax deduction, and then to recommend grants over time to any IRS-qualified public charity. Donors who give to MIM through donor-advised funds may be eligible to receive only incidental benefits, including museum admission and a discount at the Museum Store and Café Allegro. Certain benefits, including guest passes and special exhibition passes, may be withheld as a condition of the gift as they carry a tax implication for goods or services offered in exchange for your gift.
Note: This information is not intended as legal advice. Donor advisors should consult their DAF manager, tax advisors, and legal counsel to determine the tax treatment of their proposed contributions.
An honor or memorial gift is a meaningful way to recognize a family member or friend or to celebrate a special occasion while supporting our collection, providing educational programs for audiences of all ages, and bringing world-class artists to the MIM Music Theater. Gifts of $100 or more will be listed on MIM’s digital donor wall and in the Annual Report, and your honoree will receive a special card.
MIM exhibits instruments from over two hundred countries and territories across the globe, in addition to featuring pivotal eras, genres, and artists in musical history. The museum spans eighty thousand square feet of exhibition space, making MIM unique in its enormous capacity to link music with world cultures as the universal language. We would be happy to speak with you about individual exhibit sponsorship opportunities. For more information, click here.
